Artist Sam Jowers

This started out as an Inktober prompt.  GUARDED.  I loved the drawing so much that I decided to create a whole page.  I have been making a lot of washi tapes and was able to use about five different ones in this piece.  It took me about two weeks to gather all that I wanted to use in this.  The Egg is so valuable that its being held up by gemstones.  (I got the gemstones out of the Hemisphere magazine on my two plane flights in and out of California this last week end!!)  The back ground is made with a gelli plate. I also repurposed a velum Christmas envelope that I just received in a swap this week.  I really like this piece!

I killed two birds with one stone.  I was able to do the "tranquil" word for Inktober while painting next year's mermaid postcard.  I have started making my own washi tape.   I paint masking tape, put some puffy paint and glitter, doodle with pencil, pen, paint pen, or anything within reach and put the tape onto a gelli print.  I love how it turns out.  the real question will be how archival it ends up.  You can never tell with so many different mediums.  can you see the light house in the back ground?  I do plan to put the word "mermaid" in the foreground for the postcard.
